Welcome to VFW Post 10174. It was the first Post chartered in South St. Petersburg, Florida. The Post was
renamed in honor of St. Petersburg native, Charlie “King Tut” Tutson, who spent over a total of 47
years with Boys Scout with 25 of those years as Scoutmaster to one of the oldest Black troops in
the community, Troop 234. King Tut also served in the U.S. Army and with the Transportation Army Band.
His distinguished service to the community were many, in which he received numerous awards and
recognition. When ask why he stayed in scouting, his reply was "because I wanted our boys to learn
about their country, to be patriotic and respect the flag."
