History of the Post

Charlie "King Tut" Tutson Welcome to VFW Post 10174. It was the first Post chartered in South St. Petersburg, Florida. The Post was renamed in honor of St. Petersburg native, Charlie “King Tut” Tutson, who spent over a total of 47 years with Boys Scout with 25 of those years as Scoutmaster to one of the oldest Black troops in the community, Troop 234. King Tut also served in the U.S. Army and with the Transportation Army Band. His distinguished service to the community were many, in which he received numerous awards and recognition. When ask why he stayed in scouting, his reply was "because I wanted our boys to learn about their country, to be patriotic and respect the flag."
